This book deals with impedance-based algorithms for locating faults on power transmission lines for inspection-repair purposes. A large group of one-end fault location algorithms are presented in a uniform way. To this end, the generalised models of fault loops and faults have been introduced. Extensive presentation of fault location algorithms, which apply the measurements performed at different line terminals, is a highlight of this book. Apart from synchronised measurements carried out with the satellite system GPS, the unsynchronised measurements are broadly presented. Analytical synchronisation of unsychronised measurements is discussed in relation to different options concerning fault locator input signals.
