Abstrakt:

More and more rapid changes in the macro- and micro-economic environment of market entities cause that it is typical for them to be flexible and to adjust strategies to current conditions. In contemporary economies the determinants of social life are: higher intensity of social life, growing competition, development of science, technological progress, structural changes in the world economy and, moreover, globalization and internalization processes. These changes have an impact on consumer behaviour. Buyers possess bigger and bigger knowledge about the market, the products offered on this market, so they are becoming more and more aware of their choices as regards consumption. The aim of this article is to present changes in the equipment of households with consumer durables between 1992 and 2007. A growing number of households having more goods which facilitate their everyday functioning may indicate certain tendencies improving the living standard of the Polish society. (original abstract)
